Christmas Folk Art
A sampling of Christmas holiday and winter folk art originals by Johanna Parker, now residing in private collections
Inspired by antique mercury glass ornament baubles and holiday novelties, Johanna taps into a vintage spirit to create her Christmas folk art characters each year. Patina greens and berry red hues, sprinkled with mica shimmer and glass glittered trims are common themes throughout her creations which typically include jolly snowmen, Santas, mice, birds, cats and elves to name a few. Candy containers, ornament bells, ball characters, sitters and busts round out a collection of approximately 30+ holiday originals each year. For almost a dozen years, Johanna and JP hosted a cozy Holiday Open House in December where they transformed their cottage into a Christmas shop. Johanna's one of a kind originals would line the frosty mantel and collectors flocked in to catch a special piece. Sweet memories of these events are shared by those who attended in support.
