CRAFT: Folk Art inspired by vintage decor with a primitive touch - Paper Clay and Plaster Art- Vintage inspired trims and embellishments
Kaleen Zerbe has had a love for Art and decorating her whole life. She’s a wife and mother of three daughters, and creating a certain feeling and environment within the home is very important to her. Whether it be the season or the weather, her surroundings have always affected and inspired her. She’s drawn to vintage and primitive decor and creates distressed works of art that appear to have been aged and each with a story to be told.
Farm and Foundry began when Kaleen decided to take a risk and follow her passion for Art. As her love for primitive decorating became quite the treasure hunt, she started making and selling her own decor. With store shelves offering little inspiration and decorations missing that timeworn appeal, she began creating items with an aged and well-loved aesthetic. One day, she came across Johanna's creations and was so inspired and loved her folk art with their clever names. It’s true that Halloween artists talk daily to the boils and ghouls they create, and naturally they need their names! With much in common, she knew that if she were to ever sit down with this woman, they'd be the best of friends drinking coffee, talking about their cats and sharing their love for Halloween ;)
Halloween Folk Art Collectors who adore both artists’ work, connected the dots and brought these two artists together! Likewise, Johanna finds the rustic aesthetic that Kaleen infuses into her designs, both nostalgic and dear. Kaleen’s farmhouse home, glowing with candles, antiques, old quilts and cozy primitive scenes, reminds Johanna much of her childhood home. These warm and inspiring environments that embrace the charm of the past, are a shared connection that clearly inspire both artists. For Johanna, the spirit of primitive art and home, taps a fond memory back to her folk art-making roots and reminds her of sweet moments with mom, crafting together, late into the night.
Kaleen is very excited about this new opportunity and chapter she’s been given for creating. They both look forward to bringing something new (in a timeworn spirit of course!) to Johanna's characters, appealing both to new and longtime folk art collectors who are looking for more of a primitive touch. Keep an eye out for their collaborative glowing buckets, blowers, rattles, party hats and more prim-vintage delights that will warm your heart and home!
