3-4-17 Happy Spring! It's been a while since I popped in here for an update. 2017 is well underway, and with a new year comes new adventures! So, with my love for illustration and patterns, I've been moved to open a Spoonflower Shop! Over the years, your inquiries for my designs on fabrics have been such, that you inspired me to start this new venture. My sample swatch prints have now arrived, and all is good... So, my JOHANNAPARKERDESIGN Spoonflower Shop has officially opened! Hop on over for a peek where you will find a medley of my designs for spring as well as a teaser for Halloween. I've also organized this first round of designs into collections. So, from my shop's page, click on "Designed Collections" to see those groups. Feel free to share your suggestions for new designs and any needs for pattern scaling. You are welcome to make and sell my fabric into your creations, and I encourage it! Please offer credit along the way. I look forward to seeing your projects, so do share photos as I may post those to my shop. Along with fabrics, my patterns are also available on wallpaper and gift wrap! And, if you like a fabric design but don't feel like sewing a darn thing, you can visit me on Roostery! There, you can select and order pillows, tea towels, cocktail napkins and even chairs that feature my designs! FUN! Enjoy browsing my collections. As always, I appreciate your support in spreading the word, sharing and collecting my art.

Speaking of SPRING.... Newsletter members will soon have the chance to order a collectible set of Good Egg Sitters, pictured on my Folk Art Reproductions page. I will be signing and shipping these adorable quartets this month. This is your chance to collect 2 sweet bunnies and a pair of chicks before they are going going gone. 7-26-16 Wow friends, my Secret B&W Sale was a hit! All 5 orignal pieces found a home in less than an hour. Instead of saving the time and date for a scheduled web show, I thought I'd spring a spontaneous secret Newsletter sale on you, and you responded. As usual, I wish I had made more pieces so more could be shared. It looks like I will be creating more fun black & white folk art characters for my Halloween event, so don't fret if you missed out this time. Thanks as always for making me smile.

6-25-16 Event Update! We have decided to join the Glens Art Walk again this fall! We will be exhibiting my Halloween reproductions and originals in the cozy home of neighbor artist friends, Robert Hickler and Ann Lederer. The event takes place on Saturday, October 1st from 10am to 4pm where 8+ homes/studios will be open to the public, engaging the community and beyond to support the artists and walk the winding streets of the historic Glens Neighborhood. See my Schedule Page for more details and join my mailing list to receive event updates as we get closer to fall.

6-18-16 "Hi!" to all you Scoop readers who probably wonder where the heck I've been. All I can say is that I've been a busy bee! Summer is here, and we've had a flurry of out of town guests along with art projects galore. Currently, I'm finishing up a collection of whimsical folk art bugs for my first ever June Bugs Web Sale on Sunday, June 26th. Please visit my Folk Art Originals page for more details. A medley of beetles, bees, butterflies and more are in the mix, and creating this collectin has been a fun diversion from my traditional fall & winter palette.

I also just learned that there will not be a Halloween Trunk Show in Denver this year. (boooooo) After a decade of smiles and delight, this unique show has come to a close. We will miss seeing and catching up with our fellow artist friends as well as all of our supportive patrons who celebrated Halloween with us each year in the most spotless garage in town! Many thanks to Leo for creating such a memorable space for us to gather and an extra thanks goes to Samantha Robinson for hosting this special event and adding all of her creative, personable touches to the experience. We will truly miss it, but I am honored to have been a part of it, and the fond memories will live on.

That said, my fall event season is a bit fuzzy right now. As it's already June, we need to make a decision soon if we will be showing my Halloween originals & signed licensed designs this fall! Eeek! At this point, I have October in Lakewood, Colorado in mind, and will share the news once we firm up our plans. Thanks for your patience and wish us luck! :)

Happy Summer to you, and I hope you join me for my June Bugs Web Sale, a week from tomorrow!

3-1-16 Happy Sweet March dear friends! A while back on social media, I posted a teaser photo of this year's Halloween Candy Bowl collection that I created for Bethany Lowe Designs. Response was very enthusiastic for these sweet ball characters that also double as trinket treat bowls! Your inquiries for these special pieces have prompted me to offer you a chance to Pre-Order them before they sell out for the fall season. If all goes as planned, and I receive your orders by March 15, you'll be the proud owner of one or more of these collectible delights when they ship mid summer! This is your chance to adopt a collectible Signed reproduction from me! Visit my Folk Art Reproductions page and click on the pointing hand for the details and infomatino about the 2-part payment plan that allows me to reserve your piece/s and place your orders. Thanks so much for your interest and Happy Sweet March once again...

2-5-16  Hi Friends! It's actually me, here, on my Scoop Page! I know, I know.... it's been a while. And by the way, Happy 2016!!!!

I'm just popping in for a very quick update to let you know that I will be hosting a Secret Love Bug Sale for my Mailing List recipients this weekend. It's not scheduled. It's spontaneous because it's a small collection, and I just finished them! I've been juggling this original character set with special orders and several different licensing projects. Therefore, I was uncertain when this collection would be complete. So, setting a scheduled date was a little too scary for me.....eek! Anyway, they are almost ready to release, winged and ready to flit and flutter their way into your hearts. I'm working on their graphics and Secret Sale Newsletter now. If you are not on my Mailing List, you can simply join HERE. Keep an eye on your inbox over the weekend for my Secret Sale! I will eventually post the sale on my website for all to see, but the sale will debut as an email event via my Newsletter. Thanks for your loving support!

10-13-15 Last minute News! I'll be participating in the 1st Annual Glens Neighborhood Art Walk this Saturday! 6 homes & studios will be on tour in the historic Glen Creighton Neighborhood with 11 artists exhibiting. Stroll from one home to the next along these winding wooded lanes for a lovely artful afternoon. Check out my latest Newsletter for more details! :)

Many many thanks to all of my friends that came out to the Halloween Trunk Show last Saturday! A great time was had by all... I've uploaded all sorts of photos to my BLOG, capturing the event!

And, Save the Date for my Halloween Web Sale of Originals and Halloween Blog Sale of Signed Reproductions - October 22nd! Thanks for stopping by :)

9-9-15 Long time no chat! Well, I'm getting ready for my Halloween art shows!! For an update and a sneak peek, check out my September Newsletter! Gotta get back to work, but I hope to SEE YOU SOON!

6-3-15 Happy June! Summer is approaching, and then comes fall. That said, I have been busy in the workshop, sculpting a collection of original Halloween folk art characters for my upcoming events in both Washington state and here in Colorado. Keep any eye on my BLOG for sneak peeks and a workshop update soon.

Today, I updated my Folk Art Reproductions page with a tease of some of this year's new designs. I am excited to announce that I will have both a Halloween & Christmas line of wrapped candles from Aunt Sadie's Candles in Vermont! Please join my Mailing List for more details and a chance to win one of these aromatic luminaries!

Thanks for stopping by :)

4-17-15 Guess what?! I finally updated my Schedule Page! After much consideration, I have decided to exhibit my Halloween folk art originals on September 19th at the 2nd Annual Hallowbaloo show in Redmond, Washington! It's not too far from Seattle, and this year's event location is just a few miles away from my parents' house! So, not only will I have a chance to connect with my fellow Halloween artist friends and collectors, but I will also have a chance to see my family. And fortunately, Hallowbaloo's new show date allows me more time to prepare for the local 10th Annual Halloween Trunk Show in Denver which occurs the following month on October 10th this year. (that website still needs to be updated) So, friends... SAVE the DATES! With two Halloween art shows on my roster, I foresee a busy summer, making my one of a kinds. At this time, we have decided to take one more year off from our Holiday Open House. My licensing opportunities are ramping up, so I need to make space for my graphic design endeavors as well, and adding one more show to the list may just be too much to handle this time around. Keep an eye on my schedule page in case another holiday event catches my eye and twists my arm. And please Join my Mailing List for updates! Looking forward to seeing you this fall if not sooner :)

4-6-15 Many thanks to all that joined me for my mini Spring Web Sale along with my Dear Robin silent blog auction! I so appreciate your generosity and your kind compliments on my seasonal creations. Speaking of the seasons, spring has sprung here in Colorado, and besides fall, it's one of my favorite times of year. The birds are singing and the buds are blossoming as nature lures me outdoors. So, between garden clean-up and garden design, I hope to create some garden inspired folk art works for early summer. Wish me luck managing my time :) I'm imagining a hearty mix of soil and papier mache under my fingernails!

3-27-15 I'm popping in for a quick update and FYI for those of you that enjoy collecting my spring folk art originals. I have made a small handful of characters that I will be offering via my Folk Art Originals page on Monday, March 30th. Keep an eye on your inbox for a newsletter that announces my sale's start time. I will be sending it out, likely the day of the sale. Visit my Facebook Page and my Instagram Page for sneak peeks and works in progress. HAPPY SPRING!!

1-25-15 As a gift of gratitude to you, I now have a PRINT & SHARE web page that offers a growing variety of FREE printable downloads featuring my art! You can also locate the link directly from my website's Home Page. Just in time for Valentine's Day, you can download several project files including a new pair of LoveBug cards! Add some glitter and lace or maybe personalize with a message and share with your loved ones. (NOTE: for optimum printing, please download the file, save it to your computer and then print from your new file) I appreciate your kindness and support, and this is my gift to you. May my art from the heart, spread smiles and cheer at all times of year! Feel free to email me photos of your finished projects. Perhaps I will start a gallery page of your shared photos...

And speaking of Valentine's Day....Those of you who follow me on Facebook and/or Instagram may have noticed that I have been working on a few new one of a kind LoveBug sculptures. Well, those little cuties are almost complete, and I will be releasing them via a newsletter this week. So, keep an eye on your inbox! It has been a busy month, so I will only be offering 3 V-Day themed characters this year. Catch 'em quick! Thanks so much for admiring my folk art :)

1-12-15 And...... 6 months later, I have returned for a new entry on the 'ol scoop page! That's almost shameful, isn't it? Well, I hope you weren't holding your breath... hehe! I guess I've been busy. Each year, my list of art-to-do's seems to expand, but I'm enjoying the creative process! However, it leaves less time to blog as frequently as I used to, and obviously, my scoop page here has been a bit neglected. We'll see how well I can juggle it this year!

Well, this new year is starting out with exciting new opportunities! First of all, I am starting to chip away at my (long) list of special orders, many of which are years overdue. It has been fun to customize these folk art pieces in vision with the imaginations of those that will soon adopt them. There are many characters yet to sculpt, so wish me luck in checking off that list. Also, I am designing a new vintage / retro line of holiday graphics for a collection of products for Primitives by Kathy. As long as I can complete the imagery in time, they will be available this Christmas! And, it looks like I have some new and exciting licensing opportunities for my Halloween & Holiday themed illustrations. I will reveal more as these things manifest themselves. My wish is to have the ability to share my art with as many peeps as possible. And, my art = smiles! So, that equates to spreading JOY to as many as I can.

That's the SCOOP! Best Wishes to you for a joyful and exciting 2015!

6-11-14 Hi friends! I have set a date for my first of its kind, "Star Spangled Web Sale" where I will be offering a small collection of Americana originals here on my website. Mark your calendars for the evening of Wednesday, June 18th, just one week from today! For more information, including the start time, etc... please Join our Mailing List! See you then with flags flying!

6-2-14 Well, time sure does fly when you're having fun! I just reread my last post from January, and I have to say..... so much for making time for my website "re-do." I have been so busy designing new products for licensing, including a new line of vintage style wall art as well as new figurines and graphic patterns and designs for other potential licensing opportunities. I have been juggling these projects with volunteer work for the 40 West Arts District, creating pro bono art and signage to help bring awareness to the arts in our community. And all of the sudden, it's JUNE! Fortunately, I finally had a chance to start on a small collection of sculptures for an Americana web sale that I will host later this month. First, I must finish painting these characters, and then I can feel more confident about setting a date for the sale. The patriotic them is a rare one for me as I often skip from spring subject matter straight into Halloween. But, this year, I thought I would mix in a little red, white and blue for a change! You can visit my BLOG for a few behind the scenes photos of these characters in the works.

For those with Halloween already on the mind, I just updated my Folk Art Reproductions page with a sneak peek of this year's latest offerings. And, while we are on the subject of orange and black, I am in the process of confirming this year's Trunk Show, date, etc... I will post the news to my schedule page when I get the official word.

Speaking of shows, JP and I have decided to take this year off and not host our annual Holiday Open House & Folk Art Show. I know this will be a blow to some as it has become such a special tradition, and I am sorry to disappoint. We love hosting it, but we also really need to focus on the various details that still need attention with our home renovation. As much as I love the show, preparing for it takes many weeks, and we really need those weeks to move forward on our projects. With any luck, we will be much further along in 2015, and then we can resume where we left off. Of course, I will still make a collection of holiday originals this year, but we will have to find other means of selling them. Perhaps a simple web sale will do the trick. I will keep you posted!

Here's wishing you a Happy Summer, and with any luck I'll have a little more time to pop in here and there with a Scoop Update! My track record isn't so great as of late, but life can be so busy at times! Thanks for checking in :)

1-28-14 Long time, no chat here on my Scoop page! I hope you all are enjoying a happy new year thus far. It's almost February, and once again the calendar pages are flipping at high speed! I took a little time off after the holidays to regroup and ponder what this year will bring. JP and I are finally getting serious about redesiging my website. I have had this look for 10 years, and I don't know about you, but I am ready for a change. So, we will be juggling that project with all our other creative endeavors, waiting in the pipeline.

For those of you that are looking to collect a unqiue one of a kind piece of my folk art, stay tuned to our February newsletter which will include a handful of original LoveBug pieces, up for adoption. With so little to offer, I am opting to host a spontaneous sale vs. a scheduled event. Make sure you are on our Mailing List in order to stay in the loop! Remember, you can often find me on my Facebook Page along with updates on my Blog...

Best Wishes to you!

9-24-13 Just popping in for a quick update! My Meet the Halloween Artist Gallery Event at Show of Hands is scheduled for Thursday, October 10th from 5-7pm and again on Saturday, October 12th from Noon to 3pm! I will be raffling off an original jack-o'-lantern art piece for those that attend. So, please stop by, see my collection of one of a kinds, peruse this special gallery of hand-crafted delights and of course, enter to win something unique!

Also, don't forget about Denver's 8th Annual Halloween Trunk Show at Leo's Garage on October 5th! I'll have a large collection of original works along with a medley of my licensed designs! Here's a peek at my latest Newsletter for ALL the details on my upcoming events.

9-9-13 Well, hello there friends! Thanks for stopping in to check up on me. I know, I know, I've been absent here for a couple months. Summer is just too short, and all the various projects I find myself involved in often leave little time to chat here on my website. But, I remembered today to say "hi" before I submerse myself in the Halloween workshop!

Speaking of, I just updated my Schedule Page! The 8th Annual Halloween Trunk Show at Leo's Garage is coming up on October 5th! I'll be there with my collection of originals and signed licensed designs! It's fun for the whole family on a fall day. I also just met with the owners of Show of Hands Gallery in Cherry Creek North, and they have invited me to do a 2-day, Meet the Artist Halloween Trunk Show! We are still working out the details, but it will likely be a Thursday evening and a Saturday afternoon event when I am there in their lovely gallery of hand-crafted gifts. I am working on a special collection of a dozen or so Halloween originals that will be available during those few days. Join my Mailing List for more details to come! And of course, we will be hosting our 11th Annual Holiday Folk Art Show in our home once again this year. But, that's in December, and I am NOT ready to even think about that just yet!!!! :-0

While building my collection of folk art originals this summer, I also led a local initiative via 40 West Arts District to rejuvenate Colfax Avenue via vibrant art! I tapped into my graphic design skills, and designed a program name and logo, called "Colorfax - where Color Meets Colfax." That evolved into designing a mural, and together with a group of enthusiastic volunteers, we completed the first whimsical mural in the area! You can visit my BLOG for images and more details on the project. What an exciting way to launch this reinvigorating program! I look forward to more colorfully creative opportunities along the corridor once my show season winds down.

Until then, I hope to SEE YOU at an upcoming event! Best wishes....

7-1-13 Happy 1st of July! Indeed, summer is here... This year is quickly flying by, and a medley of projects have me busy in my workshop, busy in my garden and busy at my computer! Perhaps one of these days, JP and I will take a day off and catch a little R&R, I hope! However, his focus has intensified on remodeling our old 1939 cottage house. And between my volunteer efforts with 40 West Arts District and my daily design work, it's often challenging to make plans for play. Fingers are crossed that the opportunity presents itself! I do have some great news for those of you who were aware of our intense efforts to preserve an open space habitat close to home. After an emotional community upset, the county realized that their development plans were not favored by the residents, and they haulted their project! Of course, we will keep a close eye on them, but much to our relief, Crown Hill Open Space park will remain passive. CHEERS!

So, there have been more than a few distractions that have kept me from my Scoop page. For those of you that occasionally check in, I apologize for being MIA. However, I did spend the majority of my Sunday, updating my website. So, look around to see a few fresh images and an updated Artist page. I have much more yet to do, including an update on my Gallery page with images from last year's collection, and a new Portfolio page. Those graphics are still in the works, so stay tuned!

Lastly for now, I invite you to visit my BLOG for a very special Charitable Best Offer Auction featuring my very first Artscape! The auction takes place July 1 - July 8, and 100% of the sale benefits Clatsop Animal Assistance, aiding abandoned cats and dogs. The winner with the best ofer will receive a tax deductibe receipt and of course, a very unique piece of art from yours truly! Please join me in making my donation count for homeless pets. Thank you so much!

6-6-2013 Just popping in for a quick HELLO and a reminder to join me this weekend at the Everything Recycled Art Market! Take a peek at my latest NEWSLETTER for the scoop! Hoping to see you soon :)

2-20-13 Happy 1st Day of Spring to you! The first two months of this year certainly flew by with no hesitation. And, a lot has been happening here on the homefront. The story is a long one, so I will not go into detail. But, let's just say that my focus diverted from my art to a neighborhood open space park. And, my husband and I along with countless neighbors have been moved to protect this wildlife habitat that we all love so dearly, from future development. It's interesting as I never considered myself an activist, but motivations can quickly shift when the thought of something so special and rare is under threat. We do feel that our message is being heard, and we are very optimistic that this divide will actually bring all those involved, much closer together.

On a lighter note, I am excited to share a special Printable Art Project with you! I created this illustrative Spring Tussie Mussie one decade ago, and I recently came across it again. JP reminded me that it was a shame to keep it tucked away, so why not share it! Inspired, I scanned the original painting, cleaned up my lineart, added some tips and instructions on how to assemble this cone, and now it is available to you! All you have to do is provide the paper and ink! You can see the final project on my BLOG along with ideas on how to decorate this festive spring hanger. Have fun and remember to share it!

2-7-13 Happy Month of Love to you! First of all, many thanks to all of you that joined me for my "SnowBeau" Web Sale this past Saturday. I am glad that I was able to pull off a small collection of Valentine's charactesr just in the nick of time! I boxed up these little sweethearts, and they've all shipped out! Also, for those of you that have a passion for owls, please visit my BLOG to meet "Romantic Romeowl". He's up for bids on my blog, and I am accepting your best offers through tomorrow mid-day. Please visit my blog for all the details.

Sending my Love......

1-10-13 Happy New Year! It's time to check and share my latest scoop as it's been too long. Thanks to so many of my dear collector friends, we had a stellar holiday folk art show & open house! Our "cottage in the works" was packed like I have never seen it before, and I only wish we could just expand those walls with the snap of a finger. Regardless, we were all cozy and smiles were contagious! If you missed the experience, you can capture it on my BLOG. I so appreciate those of you that travelled in from both near and far to join us for our 10th year!

After our open house, we took some much needed time to just slow down after the bustle of my holiday show season. I have been pondering what's next for Johanna Parker Design, making lists and thinking big. It's fun to dream, and now if only I could just focus my thoughts and decide which shows to do, what path to take, etc... I want to take them ALL! Well, whatever we may or may not decide, I will continue to create my one of kind papier mache sculptures, rest-assured :) I do want to expand upon my illustrative work as well, so I will continue to explore my options. And, I would love to redesign my website! OH, a new year always raises so many questions. Planning and trying to foresee the road ahead is a tricky one indeed, but luckily my business partner and husband JP is helpful in grounding me when I need it! I have so many ideas, I just don't know where to begin! Ha!

Over the next few months, I will be designing new products for both Bethany Lowe & Primitives by Kathy. Prototypes are due soon, so it's back to the drawing board for me in all facets of my business. And according to the calendar, Valentine's Day will be here in a month! Although it looks like I will not have the time to pull together a unique collection of one of a kind characters in this loving theme, I do hope to create one special piece that I will release on my blog. Stay tuned for that! I need to turn up the heat in the 'ol workshop and start sculpting again!

For those of you who have spring fever like myself, take a gander at my Folk Art Reproductions page for a peek at my collection of spring designs coming out this year! I have some sweet new figurines based off of my whimsical illustrations, guaranteed to please!

Best Wishes to you for a prosperous and joyful 2013! Thanks for stopping by to catch up with me. CHEERS :)

11-15-12 Just peeking in during my busy holiday season to say that I have been busy at work, sculpting and painting my collection of holiday characters for my 10th Annual Holiday Folk Art Show & Open House! I have so much yet to do, so I'll keep this brief. But, I hope you will join us for this special annual event! If you would like to receive an invitation, please Join my Mailing List. Best wishes and have a Happy Thanksgiving :)

9-24-12 Clearly, I have been consumed with my work as it has been over a month since I stepped one finger into my Scoop page here! Well, after several months of creative time out in the workshop, I am now counting down the days till Denver's 7th Annual Halloween Trunk Show! In less than a week, Leo's Garage will magically transform into a Halloween harvest shop filled with delights from myself and fellow artisan vendors. I willl be offering a Halloween medley of one of a kind collectibles, as well as my signed reproductions, notepads and more. Admission is free, and the fun kicks off at noon this Saturday. We'll be open until 6pm, so make sure to save a little spot for us in your schedule on the 29th! You can even join us for lunch or a sweet treat as homemade yummies will once again be available for your enjoyment.

If you cannot make it to this year's trunk show in Denver, perhaps you have a friend or family member in the area that would be willing to shop for you! You could send them on a treasure hunt, and I think they would thoroughly enjoy this special event!

Also, please note that I will be exhibiting at the highly acclaimed Ghoultide Gathering in Chelsea, Michigan, just one week after my Denver event! So, perhaps you can join me there! I've got some busy days ahead, so I'm off in preparation for the Halloween season! I hope to see you soon!

8-8-12 Well folks, it's August! No matter how hard I try to hold onto the time, the hands of the clock keep spinning round and round. That said, I have been busy-busy in the workshop sculpting a myriad of characters for my fall & holiday shows. This week, I am washing my hands of the sticky papier mache and have switched to the paint. I am enjoying this change of scene, but will soon have to switch back to the sculpting in order to offer a fun variety of collectible characters to you!

Finally, I updated my link for this year's BIG 10 Year Anniversary for my Holiday Folk Art Show & Open House! I seriously cannot believe that a decade has gone by since we started this tradition. If you've never attended, I invite you to JOIN US! And those of you that make it tradition, well, we look forward to seeing you again :)

And, I want to offer many many THANKS to those of you that fell in love with "Moonsong Moe." It was a pleasure to bring my Rhyme Time Original Series back to life, and your response was astounding! I was "over the moon" with the results, and I am humbled by your generosity and affection for my work.

Well, do Join My Mailing list for information on my upcoming shows as well as fun news and new works available. I will be in touch. For now, the workshop is calling!

7-21-12 Time certainly flies, and I must admit that I have not been very good at updating my scoop page here. Thanks for checking in and not forgetting about me :) As you can imagine, we're in the heat of summer, and that's about the time of year that I look at the calendar and start to worry about the days ticking away! Never fear, I have been very busy in my workshop working on one of kind characters for Halloween. Most are in the nude, and are at various stages of completion. I have many more in my imagination, soon to create. And then, the true fun begins when I add the paint! So, that's where I have been and where I will remain until it's show time!

Speaking of, stay tuned for a fun new Rhyme Time Original which I will be posting up for bids on my blog this coming week. I spent some studio time with this carnivalicious character yesterday, and he's a real howler! So, keep an eye out for this fun fella!

Also, it seems that Country Sampler Magazine has their eyes on Halloween too! I just received their September issue, and was thrilled to see my trio of Candlestick Spiders on pg. 12! Take a peek, and look for this issue at the store.

And for those of you curious about the 7th Annual Halloween Trunk Show & it's website.... Well, it's back up! While we are working on the new image for year 7, this year's show date has been updated, and YES, we are hosting it once again! Please mark your calendars for September 29th!

And lastly, let's not forget about the moment... It's summer time, flowers are in bloom and the days are sunny and warm! I welcome you to visit my BLOG and enjoy my "Poppies & Clover" post with a fun collection of images taken around our front yard.

ENJOY and thanks for stopping by :)

6-5-12 I'm finally coming up for air! ~ I have been gearing up for a really fun local gallery event, close to home! If you haven't heard about 40 West Arts District, you will after you read my latest Newsletter! It's a passionate project of mine that I am trying to help promote and grow while juggling my busy schedule. 3 of my Summer-Boo Carnival originals will be on display during the event this weekend. And later, they will be included in my June 24th Web Sale! So, mark your calendar and check back to peek at what I have been creating.... I look forward to seeing many of you soon :)

5-9-12 Hmmm, seems like I have been neglecting my Scoop duties! Wow, the month of May is already upon us, and I must admit, that April was a busy one for me in the garden. You can take a peek at some of our landscape projects on my BLOG. I'm back to the studio this week, working on originals for my Lucky List and also items to offer for my falls shows. I really HOPE to squeeze out another web sale in June or July, so please join my Mailing List for those details.

For those of you who enjoy collecting my licensed designs, I would like to welcome a new online vendor to the mix... Nordeen's Seasonal Home Decor has dedicated a page to me and my designs, and rumor has it, she has placed a large order of my collectible delights for this year. So, check back often to see what goodies she has in store. You can find her link and others that offer a variety of my reproductions on my Source Links page!

3-26-12 Wow, twenty-six days later, and it's almost time to launch my Spring Web Sale here on my Folk Art Originals page! Stay tuned for a sweet arrray of characters that will certainly bring a smile to your face. Many thanks for your support and your interest in the folk art I create!

Thinking of spring, I also just updated my Folk Art Reproductions page to reflect my latest licensed designs for this blossoming season. Enjoy!

3-1-12 March is here, and hop-hop-hooray to the coming of Spring! I've been telling many of you that I truly have Spring Fever! We've had our fair share of cold temps and snow here in Colorado this winter, and I am anxious to see the color green again. And, I believe my yearning for a warming trend has prompted me to create a collection of Spring originals. I was looking back, and it's been 4 years since I hosted a Spring Web Sale! So, this year I will release a collection of 10-12 originals during my Spring Web Sale on March 26th. Please Join my Mailing List for the full scoop!

OH, and Hop On Over to my BLOG for another dose of Spring Delights! There, you can enjoy 6 Ways to Bestow Spring in a Mug! This month, I've expanded my Zazzle Product line to include two sweetly illustrated spring characters that are marching across a variety of products, including mugs, Tees, aprons, bags, postage, etc... Enjoy those, and I hope you collect a few spring delights for you and your friends...

Thanks for stopping by, and THINK SPRING!

2-14-12 Happy Valentine's Day to you! The clock just struck midnight as I posted our latest silly-fun holiday fashion photos of Jack, our black cat, on my BLOG. We had a little fun with this latest shoot and introduced him to my reproduction Valentine lovebirds. Enjoy the photos, and may you have a LOVELY day!

Speaking of all things heartfelt, I wanted to thank ALL of my collector friends that joined me on Feb. 1st for my Valentine's Web Sale! I clearly should have made more than 6 pieces, but that is all I had time for. So, thank you for your passionate response, and I hope to have more to offer next time. And while I bring that up, I guess I will tease the idea of possibly hosting a Spring Web Sale in March.... Stay tuned for more details on that . . . .

And with Spring just around the corner, I suggest you also visit my Zazzle Shop for a few new Spring-themed designs! I have 6 new postage stamps now available to add extra whimsy and sweetness to your outgoing mail along with a couple of new mug designs. As time allows, I hope to continue adding a few new goodies here and there. So, please keep checking and supporting this fun online shop of mine!

1-29-12 Well, as promised, I finished a small collection of Valentines-themed folk art characters! I have a sneak peek on my BLOG, and the heart-themed Web Sale will begin on the evening of February 1st! Those of you on my Mailing List will receive an emailed newsletter with all the details, and that will be arriving in your inbox before and within the hour that the sale starts. Make sure to refresh my Folk Art Originals Page that evening to see my latest collection. Thanks for stopping by and have a wonderful week!

1-19-12 I just updated my Schedule Page with this year's events so far! For now, I will be participating in the same 3 shows as last year. Mark your calendars for September 29th, the date for this year's Halloween Trunk Show in Denver! And as my favorite month rolls in, I will be exhibiting my Halloween originals at the Ghoultide Gathering, located at the Chelsea Fairgrounds this year on October 5 & 6! And, we will bring in December with a holiday drumroll for our 10th Annual Holiday Folk Art Show & Open House on December 1 & 2! I still need to update that show's page, but refer to my blog for now for a teaser and a taste of what this year will bring. If I choose to add an additional event to my schedule this year, I will certainly let you know! Thanks for stopping by, and I look forward to seeing you this fall :)

1-10-12 Well, if it isn't a new year! Happy New Year to you! Thanks for stopping by to see what's up with me here on my Scoop page... After last month's home show, blog treasure hunt and ornament signing, JP and I started finalizing our plans to make a journey abroad to visit his family in Belgium! The two of us boarded a plane on Christmas day, and spent 10 days reuniting with family members that we had not seen in many years! It was a treat to reconnect, chat, eat, laugh and love together. And for me, it's always an experience to visit a foreign land with such ancient architecture and history not to mention new sounds to hear and tastes to try! We returned after the new year with a stash of Belgian chocolates that we are going through rather fast :) You can enjoy a fun series of photos from our visit on my "Journey Abroad" BLOG post!

It's been over a month since I have created anything, and I am getting that itch to start designing and making my folk art again! If all goes well, I hope to release a very small collection of one of a kind Valentine's characters. This would be a spontaneous sale in early February, so make sure you are on my mailing list as I will send out a newsletter announcement via email the day that the sale launches. Wish me luck as it may take me a few days to get back into the groove.....

Speaking of Valentines Day ~ I just updated my Folk Art Reproductions page with a peek at my latest love-inspired characters. The standing love birds are the newest from my collection, and all can be found online by clicking on the vendor link offered.

I hope your 2012 is off to a great start! Thanks for checking in, keep in touch and best wishes for a bright January and beyond......

12-5-11 Let it Snow, Let is Snow, Let it Snow!!... Wow, I am still flying high after a delightful weekend, seeing so many smiling faces at our 9th Annual Holiday Folk Art Show & Open House! It was certainly a winter wonderland outside, but despite the chilly temps and treacherous conditions, we had a house full of happy shoppers. I pretty much sold out of my holiday reproductions, and my collection of wintery one of a kinds is down to just 5 goodies remaining. Since I prefer to offer at least a dozen-plus originals during a typical web sale, I have decided to mix things up a bit this year and offer a Treasure Hunt on my BLOG! So, please take a peek for all the details, and keep checking in to find my "Holiday Treasures" post, appearing later this week. Cheers!!

Oh, and locals, don't forget that I will be at Lakewood's Cultural Center this Saturday from 11:00 am to 4pm to sign little ornament cards that accompany my reproduction ornaments. A variety of ornaments from my Bethany Lowe Designs line will be available for purchase along with a small display of my wintery originals, those just for your viewing pleasure! Stop by and say hi, and if you need to pick up a few extra gifts, it's a great place to visit as Lakewood's Annual Juried Holiday Sale featuring over 45 artisans will be open from 10am - 2pm the same day & the same place! And, it looks like my reception made "This Week in Denver's" Event page! Surprise, surprise!

11-8-11 Well, the year is just flying by, and as usual, I have abruptly switched focus from Halloween spooks to winter's deights! The workshop is filled with naked sculptures for the Fa La La season, all awaiting their final sanding and then layers of paint to bring them to life. Wish me luck as I juggle this task along with transforming our home into a Christmas cottage. I should probably dust away the cobwebs first! So, if you don't hear from me much this month, you'll know why!

Please save the following last 2 Holiday Events on your calendar, and do Join My Mailing list for more details!

* 9th Annual Holiday Folk Art Show & Open House ~ Dec. 3 & 4

* Ornament Signing at Lakewood's Cultural Center ~ Dec. 10

See you next month!!

5-25-11 I am feeling so very blessed after witnessing the outpouring of interest and requests during tonight's Black & White Delight Web Sale! It has been about 7 months since my last web sale, so I was not quite certain what to expect. But, you all certainly kept me on the edge of my seat! Thank you so very much for expressing a love for my creations, and again, like all my web sales, I am sorry to have to turn anyone away, and empty-handed. I will try my best to host these online events more often so more of you have the opportunity to enjoy one of my original characters! 5-22-11Well, it's just a few days away from my Web Sale on May 25th. I don't know where the time goes, but luckily I have finished the pieces that I will be offering on Wednesday night. Now, I just need to complete the graphics. Once it's all said and done, it will be time to pack and ship, and then the process starts all over again! It's a bittersweet process ~ sweet in that my handmade characters will be happily joining their new owners and spreading smiles to folks from all corners of the map ~ but also bitter in that I have to part with each character, and once they are all en route, I am left with an empty work table and must start all over again. Luckily, my imagination is always busy at work, ready for the next creation, and I love what I do. So, when I say "bitter" I'm just being my fussy self! Haha!

Thanks for checking in, and perhaps I'll see you on Wednesday evening. For more details and start time, please Join my Mailing List. And for a wee little tease, you can visit my Blog.

5-11-11 Who changed the calendar page to May? Seriously, who did it?? Well, as usual, I am trailing behind on my list of to-do's, but I do have some fun announcements. First of all, I'm excited to say that I sent out my first official Newsletter last night to my mailing list friends. You are welcome to preview it by clicking on the Owl image, top left. It inlcudes the latest scoop, but I will highlight a few key points here too. And, if you like what you see, I welcome you to Join!

This week, a handful of artists from EHAG are participating in our May Challenge, Familiar Friends. Knowing me, I decided to create a black cat character, and his auction is now listed on eBay. Click on his image below for more views and details!

And finally, Mark your Calendars for the evening of May 25th when I will be hosting my first Halloween-themed Web Sale of originals this year! Tune in for "Black & White Delight" and Join my Mailing List for the start time details...

4-28-11 Just popping in to so hello and offer my thanks to all of you that expressed an interest in my owl auction by placing a bid! I very much appreciate it. This month has just flown right by me. Between birthday celebrations, family medical scares and the daily list of to-do's, it's looking like I will have to sit this month's EHAG Emporium out. There is hope however... If I can pull it off, I would love to host a pre-Halloween Web Sale in May featuring my originals. Now, don't quote me, but I will try my best. I still need to investigate the issues I had when sending out my last emailed newsletter. Hopefully, I can resolve that soon so that I can contact my mailing list members with the Web Sale Scoop! If you are not on my list, please email me a request to join by clicking on the upper right arrow. Wish me luck, and I'll be in touch! PS: I still invite you to visit the EHAG Emporium on April 30th at 9pm EST to marvel at the other creations my fellow Halloween artist friends have been conjuring up!

4-24-11 It's Easter night, and am I hoping that you all had a lovely holiday weekend. Spring has certainly been a tease in our neck of the woods. It snowed last night as we were out visiting with friends, and the rain has been falling ever since. April in Colorado is always a mixed basket of sweet & sour treats.....

On a more personal note, our hearts have been heavy with concern for my Dad in Washington state. He spent his Easter in the ER, and this will be his 3rd rush to the hospital in the last week. A frightfully low red blood cell count was the cause for the initial visit which resulted in 4 blood transfusions. I won't go into details here, but a prescribed blend of meds causing an ulcer was to blame. He is still trying to find a comfortable balance since this scary episode, and today's visit was out of concern for his rapid, irregular heart rate and low energy. The level of severity this time is fortunately less, but we still wish we could be by his side to offer our strength and support, especially on Easter of all days. But after the rain, comes the sun, and that is the attitude we will take....

Otherwise, all is quite well here at home. JP's Birthday was yesterday, the 23rd, so we enjoyed the day both together and with friends. I made him a lucsious chocolate mousse and pampered him throughout the day.We have been together for 18 years, and he is a treasured gift in my life ~ I want him to know it! I made him a special owl to symbolize the obvious wisdom that he has gained through age.... :)

And Speaking of OWLS..... I do have a special one of a kind collectible owl on eBay right now. The auction for this egg cup character ends on Tuesday night, so please take a peek by clicking on his image below. I sent out a slew of emails to my mailing list friends on Thursday only to received a massive amount of bounce-backs. Email is my key way of connecting to my collectors, so needless to say, I was distraught. I am still trying to diagnose the issue, so if you did not receive a newsletter from me, I apologize. I hope to get to the bottom of this soon, but I have also been a bit distracted as you can see..... Many thanks as always for your passion, interest and support regarding the art I create! It means so very much to me......

On another note, I wanted to shout out a big THANKS to all of you who expressed an interest in my (first) Ghost auction! All I can say is that I promise to make more ghosts in various forms as Ghostie Boo proved to be quite popular! Wow! I so appreciate your excitement for my creations, and I am grateful to have the opportunity to design whimsical characters for you!

3-19-11 I'm happy to HAUNT you with my very first Ghost! I know, it seems a little odd that I have never made a ghost before, but it's true! Thanks to EHAG's Goblins & Ghosties Challenge this week, I was inspired to create "Ghostie Boo"! His auction ends tomorrow, so click on the following image to see more and perhaps place a bid if you so wish! Many many thanks for your interest and support in my collectible Halloween folk art :)

3-3-11 Welcome to March ~ I guess we're marching right along; however, it still feels like it should be January! If you've noticed my absence, this time of year often becomes consumed with product deadlines for me. I just finished some spring horn and candy bowl designs for Bethany Lowe and have now begun designing a few new Halloween items for my 2012 BLD collection. These things always take time! Beyond that, I have been happily distracted with new designs for my soon to open Zazzle Shop! There, you will be able to customize tote bags, apparel, mugs, cards and more using the designs that I will offer! So, stay tuned for that to open soon! You can peek on my BLOG to see what I have been working on... This online shop will be a work in progress for me as the year "marches" on, but I hope to be able to offer new goodies each month.

Otherwise, I just updated my Schedule page. The show date for Denver's Halloween Trunk Show is still to be determined. But, it's looking more and more likely that it may fall on October 8th this year! I will let you know as soon as I get the confirmation.

I must admit, I am itching to get back to my Halloween originals! The days are sweeping by, and I want to be ready for my fall shows and hopefully a web sale or 2 in between. Many of you have been requesting to add to your collection of one of a kinds, and again, I thank you for your enthusiusm! I promise to get back at it soon!

2-23-11 Well, the clock just struck 1:00am, so it's lights-out for me! But, before I put the computer to sleep, I thought I would let you know that I just updated my Gallery Page which now includes a fresh link to sample images of some of the Halloween folk art originals that I created last year! Enjoy, and of course, feel free to join my e-mailing list if you like what you see! ;)

2-19-11 This month is certainly flying by fast! I have been preoccupied with designing new notepads and charms for Primitives by Kathy, but it looks like I can cross that off and finally move on to the next list of to-do's! With Spring just around the corner (thankfully!), I thought it was the appropriate time to update my Folk Art Reproductions page with a fresh peek at my latest spring designs! I'll be going back to the drawing board most likely for the rest of this month as I focus on additional upcoming product designs. For those of you anxious to adopt an original, I thank you for your patience. May you have a lovely rest of your February!

2-1-11 Happy February to all! With one month of this new year already behind us, I decided to update my Schedule Page and included new links for you to view. At this time, it looks like I will only be exhibiting in 3 events starting in September. The date of Denver's Trunk show is still to be announced, and I will update that information as soon as I get it. For those of you unable to attend my shows, but still intersted in adopting an original piece of folk art, please join my e-mailing list! I hope to host a few scheduled web sales throughout the year, a handful of eBay auctions and perhaps other online outlets where you can collect an original for yourself. So, stay in the loop by getting on that list. Thank you!

1-31-11 I Spy hints of Spring despite that arctic chill in the air! Mom called the other day with news that she spied my set of bunny and chick glass jars now featured in the March 2011 issue of Country Sampler Magazine! After hunting around town, I snagged myself a fresh copy, and she is certainly correct! What a fun surprise! For a quick peek, click on the magazine thumbnail at left. Thank you Country Sampler for yet another chance to share my folk art with your readers, and thanks goes out to the Holiday Barn for this striking product reference!

And in a thankful spirit, I wanted to offer my gratitude to those of you who saved the date and time to see our latest offerings at the EHAG Emporium tonight. As often as I can, I try my best to offer at least one more one of a kind on my personal blog when the Emporium opens its doors at the end of (almost) every month. As I've told some of you who missed out on the owl and / or jack-o'-lantern offered this evening, I hope to offer a larger variety of originals during an upcoming opening. So, fingers are crossed that I can pull that off soon. Again, thank you for checking in with me, paying attention to these dates and supporting my art! You're the BEST!

1-28-11 For those who love to collect Halloween folk art year round, I just wanted to let you know that I will have a couple of originals available on the 31st! EHAG Emporium will be updating once again with a fun variety of work from a handful of our artists. Included will be a piece from me. I will also have an additional one of a kind featured on my BLOG, so make sure to check both sites for a fun sampling of collectible Halloween folk art!

1-21-11 With Valentine's Day just around the corner, I thought it would be fun to express my affection for my dear fans and friends by hosting another Giveaway! I am offering a sweet signed collector's set of Valentine's Cherubs from my line of Bethany Lowe Designs. These two sweeties are debuting this season, so what a fun way to share them with you! Simply enter by leaving a heartfelt comment on my BLOG! And, there is more than one way to enter, so increase your chances. Best of luck, and thank you for entering!

1-10-11 Hello collector friends! I'm introducing a fun new way for you to acquire an original folk art creation of mine, and you can thank JP for dreaming up this clever concept! By joining my new Lucky List, your name / email address will be added in the order received of folks interested in adopting a JPD original. Whether this may be your first or perhaps your 21st original, it doesn't matter to me. And when I have an item created specifically for my Lucky List members, I will begin to scroll down that list, starting with the first person who joins it! In a nutshell, you'll have 48 hours to respond if you are interested before I offer it to next collector on my list. So there is no pressure. But, if you love the piece being offered to you, then it may be your Lucky day! I know for some, the timing is difficult to acquire one of my originals. Traveling to my events may not be an option, eBay's not for everyone and my web sales may not work with your schedule. So, here is a fun way to perhaps adopt a one of a kind without much effort. Pleae click on the Lucky List logo below for a fun rhyme describing the process along with a link to sign up. Thanks for joining!

And no worries, for those of you who have enjoyed my Collector's Catch series, I still plan on offering those spontaneously as well as posting an occosional piece on EHAG's Emporium.

I also wanted to thank the 12 bidders who attempted to win Charlie Cheers pictured below. I know all of you were anxious to adopt him, and I only wish I could offer him to all of you! Thank you for your determination and your generosity!

Also, it's a new year, so I have been updating my website here and there. I just added some fun Valentine's Day characters and items on my Folk Art Reproduction page, so go take a peek! To locate these goods, click on my Source Links banner in red. Enjoy!

1-4-11 And here he is! Meet "Charlie Cheers," my first New Year's themed Rhyme Time Original... You can visit his auction page, read the poem that I wrote to accompany him and see many more fun photos by clicking his image below! Many thanks for your interest & support! Best of Luck :)

1-1-11 Happy New Year everyone! After a few weeks of taking it semi-easy, I am back to the drawing board, designing both products for reproduction and concepts for one of a kind collectible sculptures. Today, I finished a very special Rhyme Time Original piece which I will be posting on eBay this Tuesday. He's my very first New Year's themed piece, so I am excited to reveal him soon! Stay tuned..... I hope you all were blessed with a lovely holiday with friends and family, and you are off to great start in 2011! CHEERS to a new year!

12-19-10 My how the days fly by! Christmas is almost here, and then a new year to follow. I know I say it every year, but I swear this year has flown by faster than any yet so far.... It's been almost a month since I entered a post here on my Scoop page, so as you can imagine, I've been a wee bit busy!..

We were blessed with nice weather for our Holiday Open House / Folk Art Show, and luckily more happy shoppers were able to join us in our home. For those unable to attend, you can peek at a fun assortment of photos on my blog! Just follow this Holiday Home Show link! The exterior of our home has been under construction for a few months now, so I coined this year's event as our "Cone Zone Christmas" ~ hence the funny decorated safety cones along with this silly photo of me & JP to follow!

Thanks to my very supportive collectors, I am sold out of my one of a kind holiday collectibles for this year! I know many of you were looking forward to my annual holiday web sale in mid December, but this season snuck up too quickly. And, what I did have available, quickly found homes. Looking ahead, with the conclusion of Denver's Gifts for Yule Show, I feel pretty confident that next year, I will have more time to focus on my winter-themed originals and of course devote more attention to my Home Show. So, save the date!....(it's the first weekend in December each year!)

And, this may be a tease to some, but I did find a little time now that my show season is winding down, to update my Christmas Folk Art Gallery page with a sampling of works from this season. Again, all of these whimscial characters have already been adopted, but I know it's fun to at least take a peek! You can find my main Folk Art Gallery page from my Folk Art Originals page. Just follow the top arrow to the Gallery. I also posted some up close and personal teaser photos of some of this year's holiday collection on my BLOG! So, enjoy! And remember, you can always join my e-mailing list for advance notification of web sales, folk art events, auctions and more. Just send me an email to let me know you'd like to be added. As always, thanks for taking the time to catch up on my little folk art corner on the web! Happy Holidays to you!

11-28-10 Many thanks to ALL of you who left such kind comments on my Snowman Giveaway Blog post! You brought me lots of smiles, and I wish I had something to offer each one of you! In the end, our winner was Stephanie Sheridan, and Mr. Snowman will be flying off to Florida to live with her! Luckily, she "loves" snowmen :)

The end of the month is just a couple of days out! With my busy fall schedule, I was unable to participate in the last 2 EHAG Emporiums, but I did set aside one Halloween original to both finish and offer for the month of November! This collectible guy is new, so stay tuned to our EHAG Emporium on Tuesday night at 9pm EST for a peek! If you're interested in adopting him, please just email me at:

Lastly, I am in holiday mode here at home! Our 8th Annual Holiday Folk Art Show & Open House is next weekend! I'm still finishing up a collection of winter originals while decorating the house and setting up displays here and there. JP's been busy preparing the outside, making a gravel path for guests and roughing in a landing where our new front-entry vestibule will soon be. This year, it's more of a "Cone Zone Christmas" so you'll have to use your imagination in order to see what lies ahead. We hope, despite the caution tape and cones, you'll have a festive good time! We look forward to seeing you soon!

11-17-10 In the spirit of the season, I am hosting a special GIVEAWAY! Simply visit my BLOG for more details and to learn just how you can win my sweet snowman candy cane stand. This collectible guy is featured in the current issue of Phyllis Hoffman's Celebrate Christmas Magazine, so he's a wee bit famous too :) The winner will receive this fun piece, signed by me and accompanied by 2 papier mache candy canes! You can take a closer peek at his feature by clicking on the magazine thumbnail at left. Best of Luck, and thank you for sharing my Giveaway with your friends too!

11-4-10 So, my last entry was in mid October, and today it's already November 4th! EEEK! Halloween has come and gone like a bewitching dream, and now visions of whimsical snowmen and winter characters have pushed aside the orange and black characters that tend to occupy my imagination for the majority of each year. I spent most of the day signing and pricing various holiday reproductions and placing them in bins for the 13th Annual Gifts for Yule Holiday Fair in Denver next weekend - YES, next weekend! (not this weekend thank goodness as I have so many originals yet to finish!) Then, just three short weeks after that, we host our 8th Annual Holiday Folk Art Show at our home here in Lakewood, Colorado! Where in the world has this year gone to? Sometimes I feel like I am in the twilight zone with these odd schedules I keep, designing Halloween products in February and so on! It has certainly been one of my busiest years, juggling my art, construction at home and on and on... Fingers are crossed for a calmer 2011. For now, I must forge ahead and finish what I have started! I hope to see many of your smiling faces at my last 2 holiday events this year. Then, we start all over again and with a slower pace I hope....

10-16-10 OH MY BATS! So, I thought Connie Porcher was only joking when she had a hunch I would beat my record auction from last year's "as seen in Celebrate365" Halloween folk art feature. To my surprise, she was serious! Again, I am so very excited and blown away at the enthusiausm out there for original art. Considering the economy and all the woes of this nation, I am very grateful that so many of you passionate collectors find value and adoration for collecting one of a kind Halloween & holiday folk art! I know I speak for many of my artist contemporaries when I say THANK YOU for your support. It means a lot to all of us! Our creativity is given the chance to run wild because of you, and hopefully we are able to spread more smiles through the process! :-)

10-15-10 Just wanted say a big THANKS to all of my supporitve collectors who saved the date and time to attend my online web sale! Many of you were able to adopt an original, but I know some of you were disappointed to miss out on your favorite piece. I only wish I could offer something to everyone, but I thank you for your interest and your determination. Fingers are crossed for next time, right?!

Now, I am on a pack & ship frenzy. What a process, I tell ya! I hope to get the majority of your goodies out by Monday and will be in touch with your tracking details.. I do believe that I have one more Night Flyer Set available. Anyone interested, please email me as I will be filling up boxes all day long with Halloween delights!

And, don't forget, tonight my eBay Auction ends for "Sweet Billy the Bat Bowl" as seen in Celebrate365's Fall 2010 Magazine. You can click on his image below to learn more! Many thanks to all who have offered a generious bid, and best of luck to you!

10-6-10 Can you believe that October is upon us?! I have been making Halloween originals ALL year, and my favorite holiday (and birthday) is just right around the corner........

After months, I am finally ready to host my Halloween Web Sale! So, mark your calendars for the evening of Wednesday, October 13th for a fun variety of Halloween one of a kind originals, straight from my studio! I will be updating my Folk Art Originals page, so make sure to refresh your browser when the fun begins. I am still finishing up a few pieces and have to photograph all the various characters and prepare their graphics for the sale. Wish me luck as I have LOTS yet to do. Also, I would like to offer a variety of Signed Reproduction Collector Sets, so again, I have my work cut out for myself! Please join my e-mailing list for more details and the official start time.

We just returned from the Ghoultide Gathering in Michigan, and WOW, what a wonderful show! My seasoned artist friends who have exhibited here in the past were not kidding when they said it was magic! All 23 artists represented had such unique handmade offerings and fabulous displays to delight the senses. It was an enchanting experience, and despite a few obstacles along the road ~ READ more on my BLOG ~ we had an enjoyable time reconnecting with many and meeting many more for the very first time! Thanks to all who made the journey to see this special gathering and to adopt some of my collectible characters. I hope you enjoyed it as much as we did.....

I also just added 2 new magazine features to the left column here on my Scoop page. I was honored to appear both in the Fall 2010 issue of Celebrate365 Magazine and the Fall 2010 issue of Prims Magazine by Stampington. You can click on their thumbnails at left for a peek and links to purchase these collectible issues. ENJOY!

9-17-10 Where does the time go? It's mid September, and I will be exhibiting at the 4th Annual Ghoultide Gathering in 2 weeks! I only wish I could say that I was completely ready for it, but I will be spending some long days in the workshop finishing up all the goodies I have in store for this wonderful Halloween collector's event. If you live in the Michigan area or feel like hopping on a plane or taking a road trip, this show will not disappoint! So, I suggest you find a way to see it for yourself... Rumor has it that there is a fun article about the Ghoultide Gathering in the upcoming issue of Phyllis Hoffman's Celebrate Halloween Magazine. So, keep an eye out for that article to further entice your senses!

I have been so busy with my work and construction hitting all in the month of September that I haven't had a moment to post about our local Halloween Trunk Show. Those festivivies were last Saturday, and it was a pleasure to see so many of my Halloween-loving friends come from both near and far to see us and adopt my Halloween folk art creations! There was a rush at the start, so I didn't get the chance to chat enough with many of you. But I can't say enough, thank you for your support and enthusiasm! I hope you are enjoying your latest finds. And, if you missed it, there's a peek at the Trunk Show on my Blog! Well, I have much to do, so off I go!

8-20-10 My latest Halloween reproductions for 2010 are starting to arrive! Now, I have the big task of inspecting each one, signing and pricing these various items in preparation for Denver's 5th Annual Halloween Trunk Show! I snapped a few photos of some of these collectible goodies and updated my Folk Art Reproductions page with a peek at this year's products. If you'd like to see more, please swing by to see my latest blog post, "Stocking up for the Trunk Show!" Hopefully the images will entice you to mark your calendars for the 2nd Saturday in September! We'd love to see you there :-)

8-10-10 Yay! I just got my hands on a fresh copy of the new Fall issue of Cloth Paper Scissors Studios Magazine! And what a thrill it is to see both myself and several other fellow Halloween artists friends in this publication! There is a wonderful feature starting on page 101 that covers the studio spaces of several Halloween artists that will be exhibiting at this year's Ghoultide Gathering show in early October! I am honored to be amongst these talented individuals, and thrilled to be able to share with you a peek at my studio space. I suggest you look for a copy of this inspirational issue today! For a sneak peek, you can click on the Studios Magazine thumbnail at left! ENJOY........

And, as we know that there must be children out there that love both art and Halloween, why not begin to encourage them today!

Good luck, and we look forward to seeing your creative Halloween art entries!

I apologize if this change complicates your schedule ~ a conflict arose with the original date that could not be resolved without moving the event to an earlier date. Please tell your friends of the date change, and mark your calendars. We hope to still see you there!

6-1-10 My my, can you believe it's June already?! Where does the time go? In just a few months it will be time once again for our 5th Annual Denver Halloween Trunk Show. I just updated this show page with the new date and times. For anyone planning on traveling to Colorado this year, I suggest you adding this stop to your itinerary! It's an initimate show held in a garage of all places, and offers a fun array of Halloween delights. I always stock my booth with both my signed Halloween reproductions and a collection of one of a kind originals. The 2nd weekend of September is a lovely time of year in Colorado, so I hope you consider a visit!

Also, many thanks goes out to those loyal collectors of mine who were excited to see what I had created for the EHAG Emporium Opening! I appreciate all of you who made an attempt to adopt an original, and only wish I had more to offer. If it was challenging to view my offerings on my blog, I apologize. There was some sort of technical glitch going on with Blogger, and I only wish I could have resolved that issue when the sale started. Darn techology!... Well, my witch and cat did find homes, and I'm thinking I better go sculpt some more :) Have a nice week!

5-31-10 I hope everyone is enjoying Memorial Day! Luckily, the sun is shining here in Colorado, and JP and I are getting caught up on a little house TLC, painting window trim in the shade.

It's also the last day of the month, and that means that the EHAG Emporium will be opening again this evening at 9pm EST. If you have a moment, please stop by to peruse the latest one of a kind Halloween folk art originals available from a variety of our EHAG artists. Again, I will have 2 originals to offer, and both will be pictured with details and extra views on my BLOG! See you there :)

5-25-10 The July issue of Country Sampler Magazine just came out, and they are offering a fun Giveaway, featuring my products! Turn to page 11 to see my set of vintage style garden trays, up for grabs. Simply visit Country Sampler's website, and ENTER to WIN! For a peek at my products, including my patriotic bird design, also pictured, please visit my BLOG! I am honored to have my summer folk art included in this publication ~ what a treat!

Speaking of patriotic, I have a handful of both my patriotic bird and my Liberty & Sam Candy containers, offered by Bethany Lowe Designs. I will be signing these and offering what I have available to my e-mailing list collectors. So, if you would like to be notified when this private sale begins, please email me by clicking the "Email Johanna" arrow above.

Wow, on another note, I was blown away by the positive response to my first "Rhyme Time Original" on eBay! I am so pleased that you enjoyed both this sweet owl character and his matching rhyme. Needless to say, I should probably continue this series. Stay tuned for another one of a kind with a special rhyme. :)

And, mark you calendars for EHAG Emporium's May 31st Opening at 9pm EST. I will have an original up for adoption and hopefully another available on my blog. Wish me luck as the date is fast approaching!

5-18-10 I dreamt up a new series of originals today as I was creating an auction page for "Owlexander Web." I'm calling them "Rhyme Time Originals" because a whimsical rhyme will accompany each of these pieces. Since I enjoy writing poetry to express the whimsical nature of each character I make, I thought it would be an extra treat to receive a poem to match! So, this limited series of one of a kinds will be exclusive to eBay and will pop up when time permits. First off is this sweet owl, "Owlexander Web!" Please click on his image to visit his auction page and read the poem included with the piece! Thank you for stopping by and for your generous bids :)

5-15-10 For those of you looking for a unique way to bring hints of the garden into your home this spring, take a look at my current blog post: The Art of the Garden Indoors. Perhaps I am a little unusual, shall we say, for collecting rusty old garden tools, but I think my new use for these is certainly interesting and fun! So, enjoy, and please leave a comment if you have something similar to share, etc etc...

And speaking of the garden, I wanted to thank all the collectors who graciously placed bids on my spider candy cup auction! I am was so pleased to see that despite the creepy crawly character these insects are known for, you still approved of my more whimsical interpretation! So, thank you so very much for your interest. I guess I will have to make more!

5-2-10 The month of May is here, and that welcomes in the commencement of EHAG's Black & White Fright Challenge! During the course of this first week, you will be delighted by the various Halloween art offerings from our group. Stop in for a visit at EHAG's Blog where we will continue to update these B&W-themed creations throughout the week! Tonight, I will be posting my contribution, a frightfully-fun folk art spider candy cup! He's a first for me, so take a peek when his auction page starts!

4-22-10 Well, I have confirmed all the dates for this year's events I will be exhibiting in. You can visit my Schedule page to take a closer look and mark your calendars. Rumor has it that this may be the last year for Denver's Gifts for Yule as the beautiful Phipp's Pavilion that we all set up shop in, is being sold. The show will go on as scheduled for this winter, but anything beyond 2010 is unclear at this time. So, save the date even though it's months out, as this may be the last hurrah for GFY..... . .

Yesterday, I sneaked in a Collector's Catch piece. Those of you who follow my blog may find it fun to read my last few posts and see how the wire wings I made a couple of weeks ago became the main attraction for this latest folk art bat. If you are curious about Collector's Catch, please visit my blog for details.

On a more serious note, today is Earth Day, and well, I really think every day should be Earth Day. But perhaps we need a special day to remind us to reflect on our relationship with this beautiful planet we live on. Take time to smell those flowers, revel in their beauty and appreciate all the living creatures that we share this world with. Avoid the use of poisons applied to our natural world and tell others to do the same for inevitably, it all transfers back to us through the cycle of life. If we all take steps to care for and appreciate nature, while teaching others to be more mindful of mother earth, perhaps we can find a better balance and reverse some of the damage that has been done. I am still learning and trying to erase bad habits. Awareness is key...

4-16-10 Today, I decided to reveal my works in progress! In my Blog Post appropriately titled, "Exposed," I offer a peek at some of my current papier mache folk art figures in their various stages of development. If you follow my work or perhaps collect the finished pieces, you might enjoy this glimpse in the making of my work. And while you're there, scroll down and visit my "Wired" post too!

I know I haven't been offering too many originals as of late as I am really trying to get a bit ahead this year. I've learned the hard way from year's past that waiting to build my fall collections right before fall can be a rather stressful sequence for me. So, if I start to stockpile now, I might have one or two moments to put my feet up later. But knowing me, it's highly unlikely.... Oh well........

And one more thing to take note of is that EHAG is hosting our first Black & White Fright! The fun starts May 1st and continues into that week. For those artists participating, you will have the opportunity of seeing and adopting one of a kind Halloween art in our bold theme of black and white. For more details, please visit EHAG's Blog at www.EHAGart.blogspot.com. I suggest you follow our blog to stay in the loop! Now, I have the difficult task of deciding which naked sculpture will become my Black & White Fright piece... hmmmmm??

4-3-10 It's Easter weekend, and of course another excuse to dress our dear Jack up in festive holiday attire. I just finished taking his photo, and this time he dons a handmade spring hat and a stitched, ruffled collar. You can see my favorite photos of Jack's Easter fashions on my blog! Please leave him a comment if he makes you smile! Thanks and Happy Easter to you!

4-1-10 Happy April to you! It's a new month arleady! With spring in the air, I was inspired to snap a few photos of my sweet standing birds on our living room mantel. Fly with me on over to my Blog for a quick peek! Also, I wanted to thank those of you who promptly saved the date and time for EHAG Emporium's March opening last night. Thanks goes out to those who adopted one of kind creations and for those who attempted to. Sooner than later I would love to have a web sale and be able to offer a collection of delights. So,wish me luck!

With April here and the days warming up, my husband and I are starting on an endless list of long-overdue home improvement projects. I will try my very best to juggle my art along with ALL the things we want to accomplish and do to our 70 year-old home and yard. In the end, I should have a larger studio space, so that will help! I just have to get there :) Maybe I'll offer a few peeks on my blog along the way, so keep visting for little updates throughout the season.

Well, I better get busy! April is here, OH my!

3-28-10 For those a bit curious as to what I have been up to lately, you can peek at my latest blog post, "Halloween Tease." Designing products for the upcoming seasons and next year can certainly be a time-consuming process, but I am always excited to see them when they arrive! Six months to a year later, I have a little reunion with each design :)

For all of you Halloween collectors out there, don't forget that the 31st of the month is just around the corner, and that means that EHAG's Emporium will be updating with new original works of art available! Mark your calendars for 9pm EST on Wednesday, March 31st to view all of the latest goodies. I will be offering a collectible piece as well, so stay tuned.

And finally, after many years it seems, I updated my Links page to reflect the links of additional artist friends I have met via web or in person along the way. It's still in-the-works a bit, but at least it has been updated! I'm sure I probably missed a few, so please do not take offense. Hopefully, my next Links update will be more timely! Thanks for checking in, and don't forget that you are always welcome to join my e-mailing list for occasional updates on one of kind works, events and fun news! 3-20-10 Just added another lovely magazine to my "In Print!" sidebar list! This time, I have an original piece of whimsical crow art in the premier issue of Prims Magazine by Stampington & Company. They kindly invited me to submit a sculpture that in my eyes depicted Primitive Elegance. I enjoyed the challenge and even wrote a whimsical rhyme to go with my creation. To see a tad more, you can visit my BLOG, but to thoroughly enjoy this beautiful publication, please order your copy today!

3-11-10 Well, with St. Patrick's Day just around the corner, and the color green on my mind, I set out to create a "Lucky" leprechaun-style black cat with a hint of Halloween! Why not make a kettle cup I thought with that bulbous shape so reminiscent of the 'ol iconic pot of gold! What resulted was a sweet, elfin-like cat wearing a whimsical hat. Well, see below for a better visual, and click on his image to visit his eBay auction link! The bidding ends on Monday at 7pm PST, and best of luck to you! Thank you for your kind bids :)

3-7-10 As I wait for my papier mache to dry, I just finished making the graphics and posting a new Halloween Gallery page for you to enjoy! The images depict a small sampling of the one of a kind Halloween originals I created last year along with one from this year. All these fun characters have been adopted, but you can still enjoy them here!

2-22-10 Fun news! I received a couple of complimentary copies of the new March / April issue of Cooking with Paula Deen Magazine on Friday. Last year, they had expressed an interest in my Spring products, so I had a few samples sent to them. A year later and much to my surprise, there is a delightful photo on pg. 8 of Paula holding an Easter basket. Guess what's inside her basket? Yep, one of my spring designs! Right in the center is my spring chick glass jar, and they have it filled with iced cookies. Looks so cute! I am honored and happy they included a little piece of me in their spring publication! Make sure to look for your copy today! For a sneak peek, you can visit my BLOG and also click on the magazine thumbnail at left.

On another note, my website here and my business email account were down for over 24 hours this past weekend. I apologize if you attempted to visit or make contact. My website hosts's server had a hardware failure, and I could do nothing to help fix the matter. Luckily, we are back up and running, but I have a feeling that I may have lost some emails along the way. So, if I do not respond to your messages, please resend them. All is working again, much to my relief!.......

2-19-10 There are just two days left to place your generous bids and dontate to PFATT's Penny Feather Tree Charity Auction! Thirty-six women including myself have created one of a kind ornaments in hues of red to adorn this very special tree. My contribution is the sweet ladybug bell ornament pictured below. Please click on our auction LINK to see all the wonderful goodies that are included along with this beautiful golden tree. Every bid placed helps us to raise money to find a cure for those suffering from Leukemia & Lymphoma and to bring smiles to our dear PFATT sister Penny McAllister who is currently undergoing treatment. The winning bidder will take home this most marvelous tree, laiden with original ornaments by a talented blend of artists. Please spread the word and consider donating with a loving bid today :) Thank you!

2-10-10 How about a little Spring with a Halloween twist?! This little black bunny candy egg cup was just born out of that very thought! I have been working on spring product designs this month, and yearned for a little orange and black. So, here ya go! He'e the first of his kind, and on eBay now. Click his image to see more photos and descriptions, and bid if you like!.... Many thanks :) Hop Hop hop along!

4-11-09 Well, tomorrow is Easter already, and in my world of holiday visions, the start of spring, the blooming of trees and flowers and dance of the birds signals me to board the Halloween train! Of course on Sunday, I will join in on the family festivities with a gratitude toward spring and the amazing cycle of life, but my imagination will be thinking ahead to the delights and happy-spirited imagery of Halloween. If I don't, I may regret it later!.... As a holiday artist, it's certainly not a perk to always be ahead about 6+ months into the year, as I would prefer to enjoy the moment. But, luckily for me, I do have a passion for Halloween, and look forward to creating new characters in that favored theme. So, wish me luck in keeping the balance between the now and the future!

In January, I sculpted a crow candy cup intended for a spring palette, but the days flew by, and I am moving into the spectrum of orange and black. So, he is currently in the works and will hopefully post as my first Halloween creation of '09 on eBay next week.... Stay tuned....

For NOW, Happy Easter!!!

3-25-09 Don't forget, I still have a few Collector's Sets available featuring my latest reproduction lines! I welcome you to take a peek at my Folk Art Reproductions page. Simply click on the series of thumbnails for images and descriptions, and please email me if you'd like to adopt a set. Now, I just need to finish my list of to-do's and make something for someone out there to catch! :)

10-7-07 Just wanted to say thanks to all the kindred spirits who have sent me sweet thoughts after losing my dear Pixie..... I'll be ok, but I just miss my furry friend. I'm feeling better, and I hope to post a few pics from the Halloween & Vine show soon. Also, if all goes well, I will try to post a few Halloween delights on eBay soon! Stay tuned....

10-4-07 Well, we're home now from our road trip journey to California and back to Colorado. "Bittersweet" is all I can think to describe my emotions at this time..... The "sweet" part was the laughter and fun shared with fellow Halloween artist friends and seeing the excitement on the faces of so many cherished collectors.... I have to say that this was my best show by far, and I am still stunned by the crowds of Halloween fans who buzzed about my table and those of the other artists. Thank you for making our visit so special and memorable.

The "bitter" part is coming home to find that one of our dear cats had passed away in her sleep. Pixie, my little free spirit, was only 6 years old and one of my happiest joys. I am in disbelief that she is not here by my side as I type these words.... She would be purring on my lap and aching for pettings and love. Our home feels different now and is missing that special spark of whimsy that she constantly gave off... My tears are trickling down my face as I realize how very precious our pets and loved ones are..... Of course, my loveable Jack the black cat is still here by our side for constant affection, but his sweet sister will be sorely missed. Life is precious, so please go hug and love both the special people and animals in your life. You never know what tomorrow may bring or what and or whom it may take.......

7-19-07 I'm giving a warm thanks to ALL that participated in the Angels for Brianna auction! Together, the artists raised over $18,000! How amazing is that?!!!! Thank you again :)

7-4-07 I will be participating in an auction of Angel related artwork created by many of the top folk and collage artists across the country. The Angels for Brianna auction will begin on Sunday, July 8th at 10:00 a.m. pst, and will conclude on Saturday July 14th at 6:30 pst. Please email your bids to angelsforbrianna@gmail.com.

This auction is being held to honor the memory of a lovely girl named Brianna, whose life was cut short from a disease called MDS. Brianna was diagnosed with MDS in October of 2006, and fought the battle of her life for 8 short months. Unfortunately she lost the battle on June 15th 2007, but her spirit lives on, and she is a reminder to us all to cherish each day that life brings, and to love those closest to us with all of our hearts.

I am proud to be a part of this fabulous event, and I hope you will join us in bidding on an angel or two of your choice, and bidding high to help raise some much needed money for this family, and to honor Brianna’s memory. All of the angel artwork you’ll see is completely handmade by each artist, signed and dated, and will come with a special tag as a reminder of this event. We, as artists, were moved by Brianna’s story and all of us felt compelled to do something to help her family in their time of need, in a way that Brianna would have loved. This is why the auction was formed, and we want her memory to live on, as she does now with the angels above.

Thank you!

7-1-07 Wow! Can you believe it's July! I'm in disbelief! It just feels like yesterday we were shoveling 3 feet of snow from our sidewalks, but now we're sweltering hot here in Colorado with highs reaching 100 degrees! Fewwwww! But never fear, fall is just around the corner, and that means Halloween!.....

In between outdoor parties and BBQs, I've been sculpting and stock-piling Halloween originals for upcoming sales. I'm looking forward to my 4th trip out to California for the exciting and grand Halloween & Vine Folk Art show on September 29th! I'm serious when I say, "don't miss it!" It's an eye candy fest for folks with a passion in collecting all things orange and black.

Locally, here in Denver, I am waiting for the date and location to be disclosed for the 2nd Annual Bewitched with Lots of Kitsch, another fabulous Halloween art show. As soon as I get the word, I'll post the details on my Schedule page.

Please keep checking back for my upcoming web sale. I have to sand and paint the goodies that I've made before I can post them, but I'm hopeful that it will take place in the next couple of weeks. Also, be checking eBay under "EHAG" and "PFATT" for more of my original works!~~~~ Happy Summer and stay cool!
