Crawling out of the Pages...

Even though it's still just July, I recently received a copy of Country Sampler Magazine's September issue! It's a reminder to all that fall and Halloween are just around the corner. I started flipping through the pages and came across a trio of familiar faces. The Country Treasures section on Page 12 begins with a splash of my Candlestick Spiders! What fun it is to see these whimsical characters featured, and I am grateful that Country Sampler acknowledged me as well. These eight-legged collectibles are practically crawling off the page, and if you would like to adopt a few for your home this Halloween, I would suggest visiting the various vendor sites on my Source Links Page! There are a handful of online stores carrying these curios, and I will also have them available at this year's Halloween Trunk Show. So, go find yourself a copy of this zine in preparation for the harvest season, and many thanks to the folks at Country Sampler for including me once again!

"Double, double, toil and trouble - these adorable accents by artist Johanna Parker can serve either as spider-topped finials or quirky candlesticks. Depending on your decorating mood, outfit the candleholders with grubby black tapers and spread the spiders around your tablescape, or present a united front by keeping the pieces intact."

Sights of Spring!....

It was a fun surprise for me to spot a pair of my Spring product designs in the current March issue of Country Sampler Magazine! Under the "Chicks Ahoy" heading on page 11, the magazine recommends grouping them as a set for your dining table's center piece, staggering them on bookshelves for retro pizazz or lining them up on the mantel! Whatever you do, make sure to fill them with treats, or in this case, Easter eggs and flowers will do. Be creative. And thanks goes out to The Holiday Barn for sourcing my vintage-style spring jars on their website!

My Halloween in Country Sampler!...

Yes, it's true that Halloween is already making an appearance on the news stands, and fortunately, a sampling of my Halloween reproductions from Primitives by Kathy are featured! Keep an eye out for the current September issue of Country Sampler Magazine. On page 34, they feature the cozy fall-decorated home of decorator and shop keeper Christina Zimmerman of Buttermilk Junction. The photographer & photo stylist duo, Philip Clayton-Thompson and Donna Pizzi are friends of mine, and they composed the lovely pictures, graciously including some of my latest Halloween reproduction designs. And, it was an extra treat to see my name mentioned on the sidebar of the article, so thank you Country Sampler for that! You'll have to find yourself a copy of this fall issue. For now, here is a tease below, and to see additional photos from this article, visit Country Sampler's Inspiration Gallery where you will spot more photos of my Halloween folk art!.... ENJOY!

A Spring Surprise!...

Whenever I see mom's cell number appear on the caller ID log, I know she usually has some juicy news! As much as I work, she gets out much more often to skim the various magazine racks for sitings as I call them. And, every once in a while, one of my product designs will make the editor's cut with a surprise appearance in one of our favorite magazines. This time, my "Spring Sign with Bunnies" is featured as a "country treasure" in the March 2009 issue of Country Sampler Magazine! How fun to see it in print and a treat to get a little complimentary exposure. I am grateful for that. Anyone interested in one of these whimsical signs can make their purchase through Primitives by Kathy, and as of today at least, they are selling for a super price.... just $5.00!....Snag one while you can!
