CRAFT: Hand sculpted paper clay figures on paper mache boxes, each unique and painted by hand.
Lori Sessions is a registered nurse by day and clay sculptor by night. She’s a wife, mother, grandmother, and a mother to fur babies too. She loves making crafts and playing in the dirt with her plants. These special moments are little slices of heaven and offer her much solitude.
When she fell in love with vintage folk art, she was drawn to Johanna Parker’s beautiful work of old school vintage Halloween and Christmas character designs. Inspired, she started dabbling in paper clay and realized that she could help share these beautiful creations with others. By studying photos of Johanna’s sculptures and collecting reproduction JPD figurines, she began practicing and creating her interpretation of these sweet characters. One grew into a dozen, and then more and more. After making an extended family of JP-inspired sculptures, she reached out to Johanna thanks to the encouragement of friends.
Naturally, Johanna was intrigued by Lori’s creative spirit and perseverance to sculpt and connect with her folk art! In fact, it was the first time in Johanna’s awareness that any artist had created and shared so many JP-inspired pieces with her. Lori’s one of kind sculptures certainly capture Johanna’s imagination mixed with The Vintage Vibe by Lori twist. Made from scratch, Lori’s sculptures each have their own personality. In a similar spirit to Johanna’s originals, no two are alike! However, Lori’s creations are larger in form and double as candy boxes too! Collectors will enjoy a limited numbered series of Lori Session’s JPD style folk art as she makes pieces available as well as 1/1 collectibles too.
Halloween & Holiday folk art enthusiasts can look forward to more collectors’ delights as these two artists collaborate on new designs that playfully pair with Johanna’s growing collection of designs!
